Eric Carle is a children's book writer and artist who is most famous for his book The Very Hungry Caterpillar, which has been translated into over 50 languages. Since The Very Hungry Caterpillar was released in 1969, Eric Carle has illustrated more than 70 works, many best sellers, most of which he also created, and more than 103 million copies of his works have sold around the whole world.
Born in Syracuse, New York in 1929 to German immigrants Johanna and Erich Carle, Eric moved back to Germany with his parents in the mid 1930s when he was six years old; his mom, homesick for Germany, took the family back to Stuttgart. He was educated there, and finished the Akademie der Bildenden K
